Frances Patricia Flynn, 95, died peacefully April 23 at her residence in Solomons Island, Maryland. She was born New Years Day 1921 on Germantown Avenue in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia, PA. She was the second child of first generation American-Irish Henry and Bridget O’Donnell. Patricia grew up in Wyndmoor, Montgomery County, attended Seven Dolors Parish Grade School, graduated from J. W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School in 1939 where she played violin in the orchestra, and attended St. Josephs University. Some of her favorite past times were photography, collecting, listening and playing Irish Music, as well as Irish dancing. Patricia met her husband Dan at a Kerry Society Saint Patrick’s day dance, and after their marriage lived forty years on Summit Street and attended Our Mother of Consolation Catholic Church. She worked in the Human Resources Department of Chestnut Hill Hospital as the Payroll Administrator until retirement, and was a member of the Timoney Irish Dancers, the Donegal Society, the Philadelphia Ceili Group, the Commodore Barry Club, and the Seven Dolors bowling team. In retirement with her husband she enjoyed USS Osmond Ingram DD-255 WW II shipmate reunions as well as organizing and participating in Commodore John Barry USN Memorial Day observances. Her husband Daniel F. Flynn preceded her in death (1996), along with her siblings Henry, James, Francis, Catherine (Greco), and Alice (McCarthy) O’Donnell. She is survived by her brother Msgr. John O’Donnell (Little Rock, Arkansas), sister Sr. Mary Damien O’Donnell IHM (Immaculata, PA), her son Daniel and his wife Kimberly and her grand daughter Bridget Ann Flynn all of Port Republic, Maryland. Funeral Mass Tuesday, May 10th , 10 AM at Our Mother of Consolation Church, 9 East Chestnut Hill Ave.
