Antonio “Tony” Turchi, 72, of Collegeville, owner of an auto repair shop in Lafayatte Hill that serviced the cars of many Chestnut Hill residents, died March 29 at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia.

Mr. Turchi's shop, Turchi Enterprises, which he operated for 36 years, was a five-time winner of Philadelphia magazine's “Best of Philly” awards, and he was named by the magazine as “the most honest car mechanic” in the area.

Born in Gessopalena, Italy, Mr. Turchi came to the United States in 1970 after winning the Motorcycle Grand Championship of Belgium.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, the former Elaine Mitnick; a daughter, Melissa Turchi; a son, Anthony Turchi; sisters Elizabeth Cianci and Luciana DiNunzio; a brother, Donato Turchi, and two grandchildren.

A life celebration was held April 3 at the Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home in East Norriton, with interment in Valley Forge Memorial Park. – WF
