Next up for Chestnut Hill Film Group's “Tuesday Nights at the Movies” is the 1953 cult classic “Beat the Devil.”

Four conniving crooks are on their way to Africa to supposedly sell vacuum cleaners, when in reality their true mission is to buy land that is rich with uranium. But when their steamer breaks down and is in need of repairs, the four are stranded in a small port in Italy, along with a seemingly innocent British couple. Soon, as they wait for the steamer to be fixed, the six of them discover that they all may be heading to Africa for the same reason.

Directed by John Huston, who wrote the screenplay along with Truman Capote, the film stars Humphrey Bogart, Jennifer Jones, Robert Morley and Peter Lorre. The film currently has a 67 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at Woodmere Art Museum. Doors open at 6:30. Admission is free, although donations are recommended.
