The FBI and the Philadelphia, Cheltenham and Lower Merion police departments are seeking the public's assistance in identifying and locating a man believed to be responsible for six bank robberies and two attempted robberies in the Philadelphia area, including the robbery of the Valley Green Bank branch in Mt. Airy on Dec. 18.

The robberies have occurred over the past three weeks. The latest incident occurred at 10:35 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at the Wells Fargo Bank, 1200 East Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr. On each occasion, the man entered the bank and handed a teller a threatening note demanding cash. After receiving the cash, he fled the bank and area on foot. No physical harm was done and no weapons were displayed or used in any of the robberies.

Authorities describe the subject as a black male in his 30s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build, medium complexion and eyeglasses – although in one robbery he was seen not wearing them.

The man is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about these robberies or the man is urged to call the FBI at 215-418-4000. A reward may be given for information that leads to the man's arrest. Tips can be made anonymously.
