The Chestnut Hill Business District and Chestnut Hill Hospital present “Heart Health on the Hill from Saturday, Sept. 13 through Sat. Sept. 20.

The weeklong event will feature daily heart-healthy tidbits via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Chestnut Hill Hospital cardiologists will provide heart-healthy tips and local restaurants will be featured with healthy recipes and new menu items.

The event will culminate with a free Heart Health Fair on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., outdoors at Market on the Fareway, behind Chestnut Hill Hotel, 8229 Germantown Ave.

At the Saturday Fair, Chestnut Hill Hospital will conduct heart risk assessments and provide education on early warning signs of heart disease. Local businesses including Balance Chestnut Hill, Water & Rock Studio, Chestnut Hill Pharmacy, Empirical Point Acupuncture, Chestnut Hill Family Acupuncture, Arbor Terrace, Right at Home in Home Care & Assistance, and Healthy Kids Running Series, will provide information, services and specials to attendees.

“The health and wellbeing of the entire community is a priority for Chestnut Hill Hospital,” said Dr. Ray Rodriguez, a cardiologist and clinical assistant professor of medicine, Penn Medicine. “So partnering with local businesses to remind people to take care of their hearts and avoid the leading killer of men and women in this country was a natural fit. Heart disease can largely be prevented and managed, but you have to be educated about how to do so and then incorporate prevention into your lifestyle.

“Small changes in diet and exercise can mean big benefits to your heart health. Heart risk assessments conducted by Hospital staff will provide information on your risk for heart disease.”

Starting Sept. 13, daily heart-health tips and recipes will be found online at www.facebook.com/chestnuthill.pa or www.chestnuthillpa.com.
