Kathie Meadows. Kathie Meadows.

The Chestnut Hill Business District announced last week that it had named Kathie Meadows as its new Retail Recruiter. She will replace Laurie Wrightman who held the position for just less than two years.

Meadows has more than 20 years of experience in hospitality sales and marketing, with a strong background in retail and interior design.

“I shop in Chestnut Hill, dine along Germantown Ave., and walk my dog daily in Pastorius Park,” Meadows said. “I am passionate about Chestnut Hill and I’m confident that my enthusiasm and experience will help to further build this amazing community. My work on behalf of the Chestnut Hill Business District will enhance the current offerings in the neighborhood while preserving the tradition and historic aesthetic that makes Philadelphia’s Garden District so unique.”

Meadows is an interior design consultant and has been running her own business since 2003. She worked in Chestnut Hill as a buyer/merchandiser for shops on Germantown Ave.

“My ties to Chestnut Hill go back some 25 years,” Meadows said. “Now my three children are a part of it. It's such a unique place, a real gem.”

Meadows previously served on the board of Rittenhouse Row, the nonprofit business association credited for creating the retail mix on Walnut Street and drawing some of the finest restaurants to the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. Meadows previously resided in Rittenhouse Square before moving to Wyndmoor more than a decade ago with her family.

“I hope to build on what I've previously learned in Center City and bring that to Chestnut Hill,” she said.

Meadows said that her goal is to fill the vacancies along the Avenue with the right retailers and restaurants. A diverse collection of both, she said, will further enhance the community while honoring its tradition.

“I believe that Chestnut Hill is experiencing a renaissance,” Meadows said, “and it's a real draw to businesses.”

Looking ahead to the future, Meadows said she was “very optimistic.”

“We are excited to welcome Kathie as our new Retail Recruiter,” said Martha Sharkey, Executive Director of the Chestnut Hill Business District. “The Retail Recruiter is critical to the continued growth and success of one of the region’s most beloved neighborhoods and Kathie’s background and passion make her a great fit for this dynamic position.”
