The Philadelphia Police Department Northwest Detectives Division is seeking to identify the suspect responsible for robbing the Pathmark supermarket located at 7700 Crittenden Street.
According to a release by the police, the robbery occurred on Jan. 30, 2013 at 1:25 a.m. The suspect broke into the Pathmark by prying open the front doors. Once inside, the man went behind the customer service counter and was confronted by an employee. When the employee approached him, the man attempted to stab him with the tool he used to pry open the doors. He stole the entire cash register which contained an undetermined amount of cash, then fled in an unknown direction in a dark-colored, four-door vehicle with a broken passenger rear window.
The suspect is described by the police as an African-American male with a dark complexion, 30-40 years-of-age, with a heavy build and a scruffy beard. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants and a long white t-shirt.
The police urges anyone who sees the man to call 911 immediately. Under no circumstances should you approach him.
