Josephine D. Tyler, 95 passed away March 14, 2011. The cause of death was complications from pneumonia. The wife of George F. Tyler Jr., who predeceased her in 1998, she was a life-long Chestnut Hill resident and enthusiast. She enjoyed all outdoor activities and sports, and was particularly proficient and successful in doubles tennis tournaments at club levels. She was a long-time member of Sunnybrook Golf Club. The daughter of Issac and Elizabeth Doughten, she was born in Chestnut Hill on July 5, 1915, the youngest of 3 children. The Depression ended her formal schooling but through her active engagement with daily life, interest in special issues and people, and broad travels she was always known by her family as an extremely informed and wise woman. She was a determined, intuitive, upbeat, diplomatic person who always knew just what she wanted to accomplish and usually achieved her goals. She will greatly missed. She is survived by 2 children, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A family gravesite service will take place at a later date.
