Crime ReportThe following crimes were reported for the week of Nov. 9-16, 2008: Nov. 12, 300 block of E. Willow Grove Ave. A 28-year-old Chestnut Hill woman told police than an unknown suspect had entered her residence between 10:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Nothing was taken and there were no signs of forced entry, but the balcony door was left open, and the bathroom had apparently been used. Nov. 13, Unit block of W. Springfield Ave. A 65-year-old Oreland woman said that a husky black male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, wearing a black hat and a tan shirt, ordered her to hand over her purse as she was walking toward her car at 12 a.m. The man fled westward after the woman gave him the purse, containing $10 cash, a debit card, a credit card, a Medicare card, a driver’s license and a Bluetooth headset. Nov. 15, 8100 block of Stenton Ave. An unknown suspect took $200-300 cash and a desktop computer from a store sometime between 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 and 12 p.m. on Nov. 15, the store’s owner told police. The suspect had apparently cut a gate lock and pried open a metal security door to gain entry. The total loss is estimated at $2,000.
