Biz Buzz: Green Friday celebration, Nov. 21 Lights, cameras, action! It will all take place at the intersection of Germantown and Highland avenues at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, as the Chestnut Hill Business Association and the Business Improvement District host a community party to turn on the tree lights in Chestnut Hill. What better way to kick off our holiday season than with this “Green Friday” celebration, and we are calling it “Green” because all 135 trees will be lit using energy efficient LED lights. This spectacular display of more than 100,000 lights will truly make Chestnut Hill shine during the holidays. Although the lights will be the highlight (pun intended) of the night, it wouldn’t be a party without music, food and favors. The King Court Mummers will be on hand to start the strut at 5 o’clock. There will also be caroling and a brass quartet to get everyone in the holiday mood. Cookies, hot chocolate, cider and other treats will be served, compliments of several Chestnut Hill merchants. It’s not too late to sponsor a tree or participate in the Let’s Get Lit Raffle. Trees are available at $500 each, which includes the lighting of the tree as well as an in-ground plaque acknowledging the tree honoree. Raffle tickets are only $5 each and offer a chance to win one of the following: a $500 Chestnut Hill gift certificate; a three-minute “Kid Shopping Spree” at O’Doodles; a dinner for two at each of our fine Chestnut Hill restaurants; a Holiday Fixin’s meal from Roller’s at the Flying Fish; and a Party Package that includes an at-home pizza party from Cosimo’s Pizza, a pretzel party sponsored by A Taste of Philly, and a gingerbread party sponsored by Bredenbeck’s Bakery. Raffle tickets are available at participating shops and restaurants and at the Chestnut Hill Business Association office.
