Crime ReportAug. 11. 8000 block of Germantown Ave. A shopkeeper reported a square table and two straw ottomans valued at $925 stolen from the front her business location between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 12. 7600 block of Germantown Ave. A 53-year-old man told police his bike was stolen by a teenager wearing a red shirt, about 5’9” tall around 8 p.m. The man was able to recover his bicycle from the teenager about 10 minutes later, however, police could not find the suspect when they arrived. Aug. 12. 9600 block of Germantown Ave. A 41-year-old Oreland woman reported her pink and brown purse with monkeys on it taken from her unlocked car between 7 and 7:15 p.m. Items taken were medical cards, checkbook and house keys. Aug. 12. 9500 block of Germantown Ave. A 14-year-old girl told police that she was sleeping at home when she woke up to find an unknown person in her house. The suspect told the girl “There’s a gas leak. Where’s your parents?” When she told them that they were upstairs, he left. There was no sign of forced entry and nothing was taken. Aug. 12. 100 block of Rex Ave. A 43-year-old homeowner told police that while she was out between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 someone entered her house through a rear kitchen window and stole a LCD tv, platinum wedding band with three diamonds, gold ring with flower design, gold ring with opal and a silver ring with small diamonds valued at $12,000 from the upstairs level of the home. Aug. 13. 8700 block of Seminole St. A 19-year-old told police that she was awakened by a sounding car alarm. She got her father who went to their fenced-in enclosed parking area where he found the front passenger side window of a 2006 Toyota RAV 4 smashed out. The suspect ran when the alarm sounded. This crime was reported at 4 a.m. Aug. 16. 400 block of W. Willow Grove Ave. A 43-year-old homeowner told police his 2006 Toyota 4-runner was stolen between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. from its parked location on the street.
