Classified Chestnut Hill Local Don't Miss an Issue, Tell us what you see or |
Revived Traffic, Transportation and Parking Committee In Chestnut Hill traffic has been an issue for decades. The first edition of the Chestnut Hill Local on Thursday, May 8, 1958, featured a front-page article, “Suggestions from your area traffic committee.” Written almost 50 years ago, the article resonates with many of the same challenges we face today relating to bus stops, pedestrians, motorists and parking issues. The Chestnut Hill Community Association recognized the current traffic challenges and need for a community response. The bylaws include the formation of a Traffic, Transportation and Parking Committee to “review problems affecting traffic and transportation from, to, or within the community and local parking concerns.” The newly revived Traffic, Transportation, and Parking (TT&P) Committee has developed a simple process to hear your local concerns efficiently and effectively. Members of the committee worked together to create a concise form which requests an overview of your neighborhood traffic problems. Information requested includes the location and description of your problem, feedback from your near neighbors and any ideas to resolve the situation. Background on the issue will aid the committee in determining the best way to respond. In some cases the TT&P Committee will be able to offer guidance for your traffic concern. More complex situations will first be researched by the committee. These findings will be presented to the CHCA board of directors for their evaluation and support of further action. If you are experiencing a traffic problem within your neighborhood and would like to meet with the TT&P Committee, please contact Martha Sharkey at 215-248-8811 or stop by the CHCA office at 8434 Germantown Avenue to pick up a form.
