Enjoyed Fillipi story

I thoroughly enjoyed the piece on the Filippi Bros. that James Keough wrote. Mr. Keough obviously researched the story and wrote a cogent tale about the struggles of owning a family business. I found it quite interesting and, despite it’s length, read it through to the end. Keep up the good writing James Keough.

Corrections from leader of WMAN

Thank you so much for the article [“Jarma Frisby ‘builds consensus without rudeness’,” Nov. 22 issue]. Wow, I am honored to have been portrayed as such a positive force in the community, not just the tired, multi -tasking public servant that I am.

Two minor corrections: I am no longer on the CHOICE board of directors (1993 to 1997), and I attended Houston School, not Henry. The CHOICE correction should be mentioned since the city provides funds to CHOICE, and any current involvement would be considered a conflict of interest.

Thanks again. Joel Hoffmann (who wrote the article) is on his way to becoming a great writer.

A Taste of Chestnut Hill

The members of Teenagers, Inc would like to thank everyone who ate, babysat, served and assisted at a Taste of Chestnut Hill, our major fundraiser. With the help of everyone, our event was a smashing success with 140 people in attendance. Most especially we would like to thank all of our local restaurants for their most generous contributions of food for the event:  Baker St., Bredenbecks, Bruno’s, Cafette, Campbell’s, Caruso’s, Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop, Caliente Mexicana, Cosmic Catering, Chestnut Hill Coffee, Chestnut Grille, Cin Cin, Cosimos, Fiesta, Flannerys, Flourtown Bakery, Flying Fish, Amanda’s Gelato Stand, Hokka Hokka, Jonathan’s Best, McNallys, Moms Bake at Home, Night Kitchen, Ranck’s, Scoogi’s, Solaris, Sorella Rose, Taste of Philly, Top of the Hill, Yu’s Farm Market.

The additional income from the silent auction came from the various items donated by our local businesses and individuals: Avant-Apres, Valerie Curtis, Halligan’s Pub, Cresheim Cottage, From the Boot, Mango, Chestnut Hill Sports, Hideaway Music, Diamond Spa, Artisans on the Avenue, The Lachat Family, Hill Company, Tavern on the Hill, Phyllis Sundberg, Chestnut Hill Business Association, The French Bakery, Ginny Lang, Carmen’s Shoe Repair, Dina Hitchcock, Chestnut Hill Gallery, Cheryl Murray, Twister’s, Lauren Ingalls, Jane Becker, Deb D’Angelo, Quelque Chose, Chestnut Hill Bootery and Janine’s Salon.

This fun night out provides needed income to maintain our Teen Center and pay supervisor salaries.

This event is only successful because of our Adult Board and the mom’s of our teens, Ellen Maher, Mary Feeney, Mary Ellen Milovsky, Jane Shields, Sue Lasek and Colin Koch (young adult member), who worked the kitchen and ran the auction.
