Mt. Airy USA’s Cicely Peterson-Mangum joined Councilwoman Donna Reed Miller at City Hall for the official signing of an ordinance creating the Mt. Airy Business Improvement District.

Benjamin J. Finkel, a rising junior at Germantown Friends School, is one of 86 high school students from 32 states who have been selected by the Earthwatch Institute to participate in this summer’s Student Challenge Awards Program. Finkel will join five other SCAP award winners to assist LeeAnn Fishback, Ph.D., on a Tundra Wetlands scientific expedition in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. He and his team members will research water quality and the ecology of the tundra wetlands along the edge of the Arctic where the trees of the boreal forest meet the open artic tundra.

 

 

 



Regina Coeli Academy announces the appointment of Scott S. Bucko as its new headmaster. Bucko, a resident of Chestnut Hill, holds two master degrees: a M.Ed. in school leadership and administration from the University of Virginia and a master of Christian studies from Regent College at the University of British Columbia. The new headmaster comes to Regina Coeli Academy with extensive experience in education, and for the last several years has served as a principal at The Geneva School, a Christian and classical college preparatory school in Winter Park, Florida. A reception will be held 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the Academy to welcome Bucko, his wife and four children to the community.
