Community Clothes Charity 2006 annual sale

Held only once a year in The Village Hall, at the far western end of Spread Eagle Village, 503 W. Lancaster Ave. (Route 30) in Strafford, the CCC (Community Clothes Charity) will be preparing for its annual sale of new and gently used Designer Ladies clothing and accessories to help raise money for The HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy. The sale starts on Thursday, Oct. 26, and ends Saturday, Oct. 28.

For many years, a close-knit group of about 45 women from the Main Line and Chestnut Hill areas gather together in October and work long hours to sort, assign prices, and display for sale a collection of special top quality ladies clothing, accessories, and gift items.

These items, that come in all shapes and sizes are donated by the committee, their friends, and by many top designers and boutiques located both here and in New York. Well known names such as Chanel, Armani, Escada, Christian Lacroix, and Ralph Lauren can be found among the large selection of coats, suits, dresses, evening gowns, and sportswear that will be marked down way below their original cost.

Among all these items there will also be a selection of new bridal gowns that were donated by a local bridal shop and a small range of unique vintage items, as well as a selection of fine children’s clothes.

The significant amount of money raised by this annual sale goes to a different worthy charity each year, usually one that is involved with issues helping women and children. The CCC is hoping to raise enough money to expand the HMS school’s residential facilities and renovate classrooms, therapy areas and other program spaces to help accommodate the dramatic student population change that includes mostly children and teens.

The dates for this year’s sale are Thursday, Oct. 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9:30 to 12 noon. A $5 donation at the door is requested on Thursday. Cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard will be accepted.

For more information on the sale, contact Executive Secretary, Rosemarie Colyvas, in the CCC office at 610-995-9096
