Education Section 102Philadelphia University Offers Accelerated Degree Completion Program for Adults Looking for enhanced career options? Admission into a master’s program? A real sense of personal achievement? For adults with some college credits, but without their degree, Philadelphia University’s Accelerated Degree Completion Program can help them receive their degree and realize their dream. Adults can make the most of their prior college education, professional and life experience and their motivation to succeed. Rolling admissions and five terms per year mean students can apply at anytime, not just at the beginning of a traditional semester; courses can be completed in as little as eight weeks so students have a sense of accomplishment from the very beginning; and applicants can enroll in two courses prior to applying to and being accepted into the program. Essentially, they can “try out” the classroom setting and reacquaint themselves with the learning experience. This program accommodates a wide variety of career interests, providing comprehensive preparation in a convenient format specifically for adults. Accelerated BS degree programs are offered in these majors: Behavioral and Health Services, Health Sciences, Health Services Management, Human Resources Management, Information Technology, Law Enforcement Leadership, Organizational Leadership and Pre-MBA. “We place great emphasis on the student’s academic and personal success,” says Frank E. Congdon Jr., executive director of Continuing and Professional Studies. “To facilitate that success, we offer a supportive environment with personal attention for every student and ongoing advisement to assist in transitioning to the University environment. “One of the first courses a student takes in the program is Professional Practice Seminar,” he states. “The Seminar is a comprehensive introduction to technologies and resources, helping students to formally assess their prior learning, introducing them to preparing a personal portfolio and professional statement that documents the student’s experience in the program, and, additionally, offering the opportunity for an evaluation process that has the potential of acquiring additional academic credits for prior learning.” Schedule your appointment now with an academic advisor, who will answer all your questions and help you apply for the next session of this innovative program that begins Nov. 11.
