ObituariesHelen Sweeney Helen Curran Sweeney, a longtime resident of Chestnut Hill, died on September 9. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel P. Sweeney, and her son, Edward P. Dougherty (Karen). Mrs. Sweeney is survived by a son, Michael D. (Amy) and four daughters: Joanne D. Nice (David), Lynne D. Whalen (Dennis), Sr. Elizabeth Sweeney, S.S.J., and Grace Mellor (Robert). She is also survived by her sister, Jean Gomez, and ten grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call at Our Mother of Consolation Church, 9 E. Chestnut Hill Ave., at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13. A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Villa, 110 W. Wissahickon Ave., Flourtown, PA 19031. Richard J. Sheward, architect Richard J. Sheward, 71, of Chestnut Hill, founder of an architectural firm specializing in airport-terminal design, died of complications of diabetes on August 23 in Ambler. Born in Kensington, he moved to Roxborough as a child and graduated in 1952 from Roxborough High School. Mr. Sheward worked in construction and studied architecture at Drexel University. He founded Sheward Partnership in 1977, where he worked on redesigning the terminals at Philadelphia International Airport and a new terminal at Harrisburg International. Mr. Sheward was a member of the Union League and several community groups in Chestnut Hill. Mr. Sheward is survived by his wife, Norma Marchesani; two sons, Michael and Marcus Sheward; a granddaughter; and two brothers. A funeral service was held on August 28 at Koller Funeral Home. Interment was at George Washington Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scholarship Foundation of the Union League of Philadelphia, 140 S. Broad St., Phila., PA 19102. Donald Sheneman, WWII veteran fought on D-Day Donald Sheneman, 82, formerly of Germantown, died August 31 in Ocala, Florida. Mr. Sheneman was born in Philadelphia. He grew up in Germantown and attended Germantown High School. He retired to Florida from Stone Harbor, N.J. in 1989. He was a retired Vice President of P.M.C. Wholesalers Oil in Washington, D.C. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII and was a veteran of the D-Day landing on Omaha Beach. Mr. Sheneman is survived by his wife, Virginia Sheneman of Ocala, Florida; son, Donald (Sally) Sheneman Jr.; three daughters, Barbara (Jerome) Tomeo of Warminster, Pa., Judith (Gerald) Clark of Philadelphia, Linda Komus of Ambler, two stepsons, Robert (Judy) Street of Fishers, Ind. and James (Vera) Heotis of Bradenton, Florida; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Chapel of Whitemarsh Cemetery in Ambler on Saturday, September 16. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wissahickon Hospice, 1 Presidential Blvd., Suite 125, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
