Fishing
by Calvin Landsberg, age 6

This summer my dad and I have been fishing a lot. We have been to Nockamixon Park twice. I like fishing there under the bridge. We know muskies live in the water under the lily pads but we haven’t seen any. Once my dad put his line in the water with a minnow on it. A water snake came and bit the minnow. My dad lifted the line out of the water and we saw that the snake had the minnow in his mouth. Then the minnow came off and the snake swam away with it.

We also fish in the Wissahickon. Once we had to walk through the water so my dad wore his waders and he carried me. We got to the rocks where lots of sunfish swim. One broke my fishing pole by pulling so hard on my bait. We have caught sunfish, bass, trout and a crappie. On our last fishing trip I caught a small-mouth bass. We always release our fish back into the water when we are done fishing.
