Crime Report

The following crimes are from the week of July 21 to July 29, 2006.

July 21. 8800 block Germantown Ave. between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., an unknown person stole a briefcase containing various papers from a Honda Civic and it was recovered by police in the 300 block of W. Gravers Lane near the Highland Avenue train station. No sign of forced entry.

July 23. 7700 Crittenden Street. Assistant manager of drug store states that offenders stole five cosmetic items and left without paying. Items were returned by another retail store owner that was also a victim. Two black females, first female 5’ tall, 100 lbs. with braids; second female nine years old, 4’9” tall, 80 lbs. medium complexion wearing a pink top, blue jeans and a multi-colored scarf on her head.

July 23. 7700 block Crittenden Street. Complainant states that two black females (see above) stole several nail products and complainant was able to recover the items and those taken from the drug store. Occurred at 2:50 p.m. Both females fled before police arrived.

July 24. 8200 block Ardleigh Street. Complainant states that daughter’s ex-boyfriend threw a rocking chair through front glass door. Complainant told male to leave. Complainant opened front door and male attempted to punch him and complainant suffered a cut to left arm from glass. Male fled and was apprehended by police. White male, l6 to 20 years old. Name is being withheld because of age.

July 25. 200 block E. Mermaid Lane. Complainant states that between 12 a.m. and 2 p.m., an unknown person broke the right rear vent window of a 1999 Saturn and stole one compact disk player, 30 CDs and one Zip drive. Reported at 2:48 p.m.

July 25. Ardleigh Street and Southampton Ave. Complainant states that while hanging out with known males, males jumped him and stole two cell phones and victim suffered a cut and swelling to his left cheek. Complainant was taken to Germantown Hospital. Offenders were two white males, both known, one Hispanic male and one, mixed race. Names being withheld because of ages. Reported at 12:52 a.m.

July 27. 7700 block Crittenden Street. Complainant states that an unknown person stole a Pennsylvania tag, DLC455, from a 1994 Nissan sedan.

July 27. E. Willow Grove Ave. and Wyndmoor Road. Complainant states that she parked her 1990 Toyota Camry at this location and when she returned she found the driver’s window broken and 30 CDs stolen. Reported at 8:30 p.m.

July 27. Germantown Ave. and Highland Ave. Complainant states that a white fiberglass duck, 26” x 26” was stolen by an unknown person. Reported at 2 p.m.

Summary — Nine crimes for week: one robbery, one attempted burglary, four thefts from vehicles, two retail thefts and one other theft.
