Springside grad grabs top lacrosse honors Maggie Koch of Chestnut Hill, a 2003 graduate of Springside School, on June 10 received the C. Markland Kelly Award as Division I Goalie of the Year at the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/US Lacrosse All-American Banquet. Late last month, Koch was named by the IWLCA as a Division I First Team All-American. And in mid-May Koch, who will be a senior at Georgetown University in the fall, was named BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Koch led the nation with .564 save percentage and ranked second nationally, allowing just 6.8 goals per game. Koch was the last line of the Hoya defense, which ranked second in the country in scoring defense (7.0 gpg). “Maggie increased her level of play tremendously this season and played a major role in our success during the 2006 season,” Hoya head coach Ricky Fried reportedly said. |
