CHCA officers to be elected at new location The Chestnut Hill Community Association has moved its board meetings from the Hiram Lodge to the Chestnut Hill Library, 8711 Germantown Ave. The first meeting of the new board of directors, voted into office in April, is scheduled for Thursday, May 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the library. There is one condition on use of the library: The meetings must end by 10 p.m., said Betty Brady, community manager. That could be a challenge for a board whose meetings have been known to flirt with the pumpkin hour. Hiram Lodge had been offered for use by the CHCA as a favor to President Maxine Dornemann, Brady said. With Dornemann leaving office, the CHCA needed to find an alternate location for the board to meet, as well as for its committees. The Development and Review Committee and Land Use, Planning and Zoning Committee meetings are scheduled to be held at the Chestnut Hill Baptist Church, 2 Bethlehem Pike. The CHCA is still searching for a meeting spot for its Executive Committee. The Aesthetics Committee will continue to meet in Town Hall. One order of business for the new board this week will be to elect officers. The slate of officers approved by the CHCA Nominating Committee last week will face no challengers. Board members had until 5 p.m. Monday, May 22, to challenge the approved slate, largely composed of Second Opinion Caucus members, which won 19 of the 24 open positions in the April election. Jane M. Piotrowski, who ran on the opposition Alliance slate, was the only non-Caucus member to be nominated for an officer position. The nominees approved by the committee are: Ron Recko, president; Lou Aiello, vice president-Operations; Susan Pizzano, vice president-Physical Division; Jane Piotrowski, vice president-Social Division; Ned Mitinger, treasurer, and Ann Spaeth, secretary. At-large nominees for the Executive Committee are Janine Dwyer, Nancy Hutter, Ed Budnick, Jim Foster and Tom Fleming. |
