Election ballots due April 27

The Chestnut Hill Community Association’s election is underway, with 54 candidates vying for 24 open director positions on the board. Ballots are available in the Local, this week on page 10, and online at www.chesnuthilllocal.com.

To clarify a discrepancy in the ballots’ phrasing, all ballots printed in the Local, from March 30 to April 27 and previously and currently printed online, will be accepted for the 2006 election, including multiple ballots placed in one envelope.

Ballots can be mailed or hand-delivered to Town Hall, 8434 Germantown Ave., by April 27. No ballots will be accepted after the Judges of election request them at the April 27 annual meeting.

The annual meeting is taking place at the Chestnut Hill Presbyterian Church, 8855 Germantown Ave. Hors d’oeuvres and dinner begin at 5 p.m., followed by speaker Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pennsylvania). The annual meeting itself begins at about 7:30 p.m. Dinner costs $20 a person; reservations can be made by calling 215-248-8811. RSVP by Friday, April 21.

On the Friday and (if necessary) the Saturday after the annual meeting, votes will be counted publicly by the judges and appointed volunteers. The newly elected board members will be posted on the door of Town Hall when the counting is completed, along with the numbers of votes each received. There are 12 three-year terms and 12 one-year terms to be filled on this election.
