Crime Report

Note: The Crime Report for March 26 to April 1, 2006, was omitted from the Local last week. It appears here, after the report for March 27 to April 8, 2006.

The following crimes occurred from March 27 and April 8, 2006.

March 27 Unit block Station Lane. Complainant states that an unknown person stole a one-karat diamond ring and money from roommate’s dresser drawer. Reported at 3 p.m.

April 4 7700 block Winston Road. Complainant states that an unknown person stole an aluminum pole, which was in front of his home. Reported at 5:04 p.m.

April 4 400 block W. Chestnut Hill Avenue. Complainant states that an unknown person opened window in rear of home and stole a Dell Inpiron laptop computer. Reported at 11:37 a.m.

April 4 8000 block Stenton Avenue. Complainant states that he donated his vehicle to a charitable foundation on Sept. 28, 2005 and did not remove Pennsylvania tag FWC1244. He is now receiving parking tickets in the mail.

April 5 100 block W. Evergreen Avenue. Complainant states that he parked his 2002 Ford and left window open just a crack with doors locked. When he returned he found an unknown person had entered his vehicle and stole a Nano I-pod and cradle. Reported at 9 p.m.

April 6 8700 block Shawnee Street. Complainant states that an unknown person opened gate to back yard and proceeded to garage, entered rear door, and stole an orange and black Schwinn mountain bike, with slick tires and cupless pedals. No forced entry. Reported at 7:09 a.m.

April 6 Unit block Laughlin Lane. Complainant and his wife woke up to a loud crash from their kitchen and went down to find their rear door smashed by a very large stone and items taken from their kitchen table. Taken was a brown briefcase containing a Verizon cell phone, Blackberry, and a brown wallet with various identifications. Occurred at 4:08 a.m.

April 6 100 block Bethlehem Pike. Complainant states that between 1 and 8 a.m., an unknown person entered rear porch that was unlocked and stole a purse. Complainant’s purse was found and taken to the 5th District police station.

Summary Eight crimes for the week: one retrieved report, four burglaries, two thefts from vehicles, one residential theft and one other theft.

The following crimes occurred from March 25 to April 1, 2006.

March 25 7700 block Crittenden Street. Complainant states that an unknown female walked up to her vehicle and asked where District 7 was. The female opened the right front door, jumped in and took victim’s purse, then opened the door and got out, and a male got into the front seat. Female then got into rear seat and went through complainant’s purse. Complainant was then instructed to go to bank and withdraw money using her Visa and Master cards. Complainant then drove back to Market Square and offenders fled. First offender: black male, 6-feet-tall, 250 pounds, medium complexion, wearing gold frame glasses. Second offender: black female, 5-foot-5, 200 pounds, 36 to 40 years old, medium complexion. Reported at 6:19 p.m.

March 29 7700 block Germantown Ave. Complainant states that an unknown person stole a leather wallet containing money, three credit cards and a social security card from her pocketbook while she was riding on a Route 23 bus. Reported at 1 a.m.

March 30 9600 block Germantown Ave. Complainant states that between March 28 and 3:30 p.m. March 30, an unknown person entered her room in an unknown manner and stole a 24-inch Magnavox TV/DVD/VCR, Model No. MWC24T5.

Summary Three crimes for week: one robbery, one burglary, one theft.
