Crime Report

The following crimes are from the week of March 19 to March 25.

March 19 8700 block Stenton Ave. Complainant states that an unknown person gained entry into home through glass side door, which had been broken and reported to police March 18. Shoebox was taken from second floor hallway closet. Taken were two chains, watch and currency. Reported at 10 p.m.

March 21 8500 block Germantown Ave. Complainant states that she was in store and an unknown person removed various credit cards from her wallet. Reported at 6 p.m.

March 21 8300 block Germantown Ave. Complainant states that while she was teaching at school, an unknown person stole her Motorola Razor V3 cellular phone. Reported at 4:30 p.m.

March 23 9600 block Germantown Ave. Complainant states that between 5 p.m. March 16 and 10 a.m. March 20, an unknown person stole an Avertec laptop computer series 3-3500 with a silver and blue case, Serial No. NB01CU050103119.

March 24 Unit block E. Willow Grove Ave. Complainant states that he parked his gray 1997 Acura TL 3.2, PA. tag FTT0738, at 10 p.m. March 23 and when he returned at 10 a.m. March 24, it was gone.

March 24 Unit block W. Willow Grove Ave. Complainant states that he parked his silver 1997 Saturn SL 2, PA. tag DDR8895, at 9 p.m. March 23 and when he returned at 3 a.m. March 24, it was gone.

March 25 Unit block W. Hartwell Lane. Complainant states that he parked his silver Pontiac Grand AM, PA. tag EDV7497, and when he returned he discovered his car had been stolen. Inside vehicle were two bottles of wine and a black leather jacket. Occurred after 7:30 p.m.

Summary Seven crimes for week: one burglary, three stolen vehicles and three thefts. If you don’t have a car alarm, consider purchasing a club.

The following crimes are from the week of March 12 to March 18.

March 14 6 p.m. 7700 block Crittenden St. Complainants state that two men stopped them and told them to empty their pockets, or “gonna come out swinging.” The assailants took money and a Cingular picture cell phone. First male, 16 to 20 years old, 6-foot-1, medium build, dark complexion with short hair, wearing a white t-shirt and black pants. Second male, 16 – 20 years old, 6’1” tall, heavy build with short hair, wearing blue jeans.

March 14 6:07 a.m. 7700 block Stenton Ave. Complainant states that she was awakened by a noise at her window; she rolled over and saw offender looking at her. Police arrived to find screen partially removed. Window is one and a half stories from ground. Complainant identified offender on sidewalk in front of her window. Police arrested man from Lancaster.

March 14 9600 Germantown Ave. Director of student activities, states that someone stole a tan Sentry Portable Safe containing items from his office in the main building. Safe was locked in desk inside office, which was also locked. Safe was taken between 3 p.m. March 13 and 11:15 a.m. March 15. Others used complainant’s office during this time.

March 18 8700 block Stenton Ave. Complainant and her boyfriend state that they left apartment at about 7:30 p.m. and returned at 8:30 p.m. and noticed kitchen door unlocked and glass broken. They found various pieces of jewelry missing from jewelry box in closet of upstairs bedroom and vases missing from living room. Jewelry box was owned by ex-boyfriend.

March 18 1:30 p.m. Germantown and Northwestern Aves. Complainant states that she parked her car; when she returned she noticed her purse was open and someone had stolen a Visa card, a Freedom card and a debit card. She canceled her credit cards immediately.

Summary Five crimes for week _ one robbery, two burglaries, one theft, one theft from vehicle.
