Crime ReportThe following crimes are from the week of March 5 to March 11, 2006. March 5. 9600 block Germantown Ave. Employee of the Philadelphia Inquirer states that between 5 a.m. on March 4 and 5 a.m. on March 5, an unknown person stole a Philadelphia paper box and newspapers. March 6. 7700 block Stenton Ave. Complainant states that an unknown person switched her Pennsylvania tag FRR3136 from her 1993 Toyota and put a Pennsylvania truck tag YME3907 on her vehicle. Reported at 10 a.m. March 6. 200 block E. Willow Grove Ave. Complainant states that he left his home at 6:30 a.m. and returned at 4 p.m. and had trouble with front door lock and noticed scratch marks on door and lock bent. Entry was not gained. March 7. 8200 block Germantown Ave. Between 9 p.m. on March 6 and 7:15 a.m. on March 7, an unknown person broke the rear passenger side window of a 2003 Ford Explorer and stole the following items: golf clubs, golf shoes, Dell laptop computer and a video camera. March 8. 200 E. Evergreen Ave. Complainant states that an unknown person stole a wood chipper from his backyard. Complainant also stated that two men did come to the house on March 1 and offered to clean his gutters. March 9. Unit block Bethlehem Pike. Complainant states that while she was waiting for bus at bus loop, a black male jumped out of an older black Buick sedan with tainted windows, holding a black automatic handgun and stole earrings, cell phone, transpass and money and fled southbound on Germantown Ave. Male, 25-30 years old, 5’10” tall, 130 lbs., thin build, dark skin tone, Sunni Muslim beard, brown eyes, black hair, wearing a black hoody, blue jeans and tan Tims. Occurred at 11:40 p.m. March 9. 8800 block Germantown Ave. Complainant states she left office at 2:30 p.m. on March 8, and when she returned the following morning she found the door frame damaged and cabinets damaged. Plastic box containing money was taken along with telephone. Vending machine was vandalized. CPR room was broken into but nothing was taken. March 11. 7700 block Crittenden Street. Male was observed by complainant putting bottles of Tylenol and Prilosec into a bag and attempted to leave store without paying for items. Male fled with some of the items and was apprehended by police in parking lot at Crittenden and Mermaid Lane and identified by complainant. Arrested was Robert Johnson, residing in the 1200 block of Cardeza Street. Occurred at 11:35 p.m. Summary – Eight crimes for week: one robbery, two burglaries, two thefts from vehicles, one residential theft, one retail theft and one other theft. Thefts from vehicles remain a large percentage of crime in the city. Remind yourself and your guests, lock your car and do not leave anything, regardless of value, in your vehicle.
