Senior News
The Chestnut Hill Senior Center is always looking for a few good people, or many, to join in all of its regularly scheduled physical activities (yoga, tai chi and aerobics), classes (Italian, French), workshops (art, needlecrafts and writing) and discussion groups (Great Books, short stories). Not sure if you would fit in? Come and try it one time ... the Center staff is confident you will be back for the nest session. New learning experiences have recently come to the Senior Center. Wednesdays at noon stop by to learn the basics of bridge from Luther van Ummerson, or take it as a refresher course to get ready for regular Wednesday and Thursday bridge games. Fridays at 1 p.m. you can learn how to play chess, or improve your game, with Jim Garrity. And on March 14, Danielle Taylor is returning with six weeks of Simply Spanish, designed to make it fun for mature adults to learn to converse in a new language. For all of you with cabin fever, the Chestnut Hill Senior Center has trips galore scheduled for the early Spring: an exhibition of quilts at Brandywine River Museum on March 15; ”The Student Prince” on March 23 in New Hope and the Judith Leiber handbag exhibit April 6; and the National Constitution Center with its special Ben Franklin exhibit on April 10. All you need to do is stop in or call for information or to make a reservation. And of course you will be on the lookout for the new walking program which is set to begin as soon as the crocus and snowbells begin to peep out of the ground. The Senior Center is located at 7999 Crittenden Street, Chestnut Hill; 215-248-0180; or email ischseniors@juno.com. |
