CHA senior Mike Flannery: high school player of the year

Mike Flannery #23 is flanked by his mother Kim and father Mike Sr.

The Maxwell Football Club of Philadelphia has selected Chestnut Hill Academy senior Mike Flannery as one of its high school players of the year.

This is one of the most prestigious awards that an area football player can receive. Each year the Maxwell Club honors the top 40 area high school players from the Philadelphia area, South New Jersey, and the Lehigh Valley with the Maxwell Club. The Maxwell Club selects student-athletes based on their performance on and off the field using the motto of “Athletics, Academics and Service” as the criteria.

Mike Flannery has been a key contributor to the Chestnut Hill Academy football program during the past three years. As a senior Mike played both the running back and linebacker positions. As a running back, Mike rushed for 1,049 yards on 111 carries.

He scored 14 touchdowns rushing. Mike accomplished all this in only six games as an ankle injury shortened his senior season. In his career, Mike rushed for 2,946 yards and 37 touchdowns. Mike was a two-way all-league selection in both his junior and senior year seasons.

Mike has attracted a great deal of attention from colleges and has narrowed down his choices to include; Shippensburg University, Millersville University, and Blooomsburg University.
