Historic RittenhouseTown Seeks War Reenactors. To support and expand its historical interpretive and educational programs, Historic RittenhouseTown, a National Historic Landmark District, which is the 1690 site of North America's first paper mill manufacturing community, is searching for an American Revolutionary War reenactment group or organization. With a major grant from the William Penn Foundation and other supporting funding sources, a key project was recently completed on the circa 1845 Enoch Rittenhouse Home, one of the seven original properties within this historic site. A portion of this historic building now has dedicated space for a group or organization to partner with Historic RittenhouseTown to provide the public with programs, events and activities centered on the American Revolution. This goal is important, since part of this crucial conflict, the 1777 Battle of Germantown, was fought on this location, now within Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. For more information, call 215-438-5711 or e-mail HistRitTwn@aol.com.
