Bridge contractors mesh style with modern traffic
needs

The onslaught of garish orange signs starts interrupting the bucolic
Germantown Avenue scenery a few thousand feet before the approach
comes into sight. Blinking, foreboding, they scream “road
closed,” building a crescendo until three lonely barrels stand
final sentry at the foot of the bridge. Past their shadows and around
the bend, chalky construction dust mixes with diesel exhaust. Blown
down the meandering span by the breeze rising from the creek, it
creates an oddly musky smell. The quiet intersection —

In Sports...
A soggy Homecoming for Springside

A 9 a.m. start to its Homecoming Day sports program didn't do Springside
a lot of good last Saturday. By the time the weather dried out and the
sun glimpsed through the crowds in the afternoon, the Lions' hockey and
soccer teams had already completed their contests in a chilly rain, and
the planned tennis outing had been cancelled altogether.
The local booters made up an early deficit and finished in a 1-1 draw
with Moorestown Friends. The tie left the Lions with a record of 4-6-1
for the season thus far, while the visiting Vixens came away 3-4-1.
