Thomas S. Osborne

osborneThomas Spring Osborne, VMD, 40, of Mt. Airy, husband of Natasha (nee Kassell) and father of Zoe and Finnian, died at home on Saturday, August 27.

Dr. Osborne attended Germantown Friends School, Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn., and the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania.

In 1984 he traveled solo around the world.

Dr. Osborne was employed by two veterinary hospitals in Tacoma, Wash., from 1994-2002 and returned to Philadelphia in 2002, where he was employed by the Mt. Airy Animal Hospital.

He was the son of Deborah Cooper, of Philadelphia, and Frederick S. Osborne, of Ivoryton, Conn. He is also survived by two sisters, Sophia Simpson of Philadelphia and Jessica Mungekar of Sewell, N.J.; a brother, Adam M.I. Daily of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; and a niece, Ruby Spring Simpson.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, in the Germantown Meeting House, 47 West Coulter St.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Thomas S. Osborne Fund at the Waldorf School, 7500 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, 19119.

Charles H. Goff

Charles H. Goff, of Oreland, died on August 22.

He was the husband of Judy Goff (nee Allen), father of Charles Robert Goff and Pamela Christine White (Edward); grandfather of Alexander and Sarah; and brother of Jean Goode and Bertha May Trent.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on August 27 at Our Mother of Consolation Church with interment at St. John Neumann Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Mother of Consolation Church, 9 E. Chestnut Hill Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19118.

Ballard funeral information

The funeral service for Ernesta Ballard will be on Friday, Sept. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 22 E. Chestnut Hill Ave.

Due to the large turnout expected, including Governor Rendell, and with the limited parking available at and near the church, shuttle service will be provided to and from the church from the Morris Arboretum, 100 Northwestern Ave.

Three Philadelphia Trolley Works vehicles will loop from the main entrance of the arboretum to the church at about a five-minute interval starting at 9:30 a.m. Tell the attendant at the arboretum gate you are attending the funeral; you will be directed to a special parking area, where you can board a trolley.
