As part of its ongoing 50th anniversary celebration, the Saint Joseph Villa in Flourtown held a gala on June 24 at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club. About 240 people attended the gala, which also included a surprise performance by the Quaker City String Band. The Villa serves as a nursing home for retired members of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, along with other local congregations and laypeople. The event was organized by the Golden Anniversary Gala Steering Committee and was co-chaired by Dr. John Scanlon and Carol Fitzgerald, seen here. Scanlon is the chief medical officer at Chestnut Hill Hospital and was taught by the sisters at Saint Timothy School in Philadelphia. Fitzgerald is the Executive Director Emeritus of the Pennsylvania Society and the daughter of the Villa’s builder, James McCullough. (Photo by Joseph Bradley)
