Crime Report, June 14: One burglary, three thefts and one theft from vehicle

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill from June 4 to June 10, 2018.

June 4. Theft on the 8200 block of Germantown Avenue at approximately 3:40 a.m. A witness told police he heard a noise outside. When he looked outside he observed two men opening the ATM machine located in the rear parking lot. Upon police arrival, both men fled the parking lot. Lance Colter, one of the men, was placed into police custody. Further investigation showed that the front of the ATM was broken open. The man in police custody was positively IDed by the witness.

June 5. Theft from the 400 block of Willow Grove Avenue on June 2 at approximately 9:30 p.m. A woman told police that she was attending a wedding on the 400 block of Willow Grove Avenue. She placed her wallet on the back of a chair and when she went to retrieve it, it was gone. Taken was one black wallet (valued at $120). The wallet contained the following items: keys, drivers license, credit, debit cards, one medication script, one work badge, Septa tickets (valued at $100) and $80 in cash.

June 7. Theft from vehicle on the 9600 block of Germantown Avenue at approximately 1:15 p.m. A woman told police she parked her car on Germantown Avenue. When she returned, she noticed an unknown person had broken her driver’s side rear window on her Subaru. Taken was one MacBook Air laptop valued at $1,000.

June 8. Theft on the 7600 block of Crittenden Avenue on June 7 at approximately 5:45 p.m. A woman told police her daughter hired a massage therapist. The mother had a wedding ring and engagement ring on the dining room table and when she woke up for work the items were missing. The items are valued at $5,300.

June 8. Burglary on June 4 at approximately 1 p.m. The owner’s son was checking on his parents’ house when he discovered the front door was kicked in. The alarm was on at the time. The following items were missing: one 60” F/S TV, Sony, one desktop computer, one wooden jewelry box, contents unknown. Several items were dusted for prints. The owner is currently out of town but will call NWDD for a detailed list of other possible missing items. The items are valued at $1,100.
