Virginia L. Finch, bead artist

Virginia L. “Ginny” Finch, 94, of Wyndmoor, a bead artist who had worked at several shops in Chestnut Hill, died May 19 at Keystone Hospice in Wyndmoor.

Mrs. Finch handcrafted fashion necklaces from beads that she had collected during her extensive travels in Africa, Asia and Europe and sold them in local galleries and at craft shows.

She also had been a sales associate at Langman Gallery, Sign of the Swan, Gallery 500 and Garden Gate Antiques.

Earlier she had worked as a draftsman for 20 years at the former Leeds and Northrup Corporation in North Wales.

Born and raised in Germantown, she was a graduate of the former Stevens School in Chestnut Hill.

She was married to the late Donald I. Finch. An earlier marriage to Maurice R. Landes Jr. ended in divorce.

Mrs. Finch is survived by a daughter, Christiana R. Landes, of New Harmony, Utah; a son, Maurice R. Landes III; and two grandchildren, Arjun V. Landes, of New York City, and Tulasi K. Landes, of Washington, D.C.. A grandchild, Kealy M. Landes, of Denver, Colo., preceded her in death.

A memorial service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, at George Washington Memorial Park in Plymouth Meeting. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Best Friends Animal Society at www.bestfriends.org. – WF
