Robert Mapes Thomson, of Chestnut Hill, recently presiding at Delaware Valley Veteran’s Home, in Philadelphia, passed away of Congestive Heart Failure on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Hospice in Jenkintown PA.

He was Born on January 23, 1920 to George V. Thomson and Alta Mapes Thomson in Minneapolis MN. He served in the U.S. Army’s Military Intelligence Division in Europe from 1942 to 1945. Dr. Thomson graduated with a Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 1948 and worked as a consultant for the U.S. Navy with Dunlop & Associates for many years.

In 1970 he turned to teaching and served as head of the Psychology Department at Eastern University in St. Davids.

Dr. Thomson is survived by his wife of 43 years, Christine Thomson, four sons: James Thomson, David Thomson, George Thomson and Michael Thomson in addition to his seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
