Saranne Borda Du Bois passed away peacefully on Monday, April 9 at her home, The Hill at Whitemarsh, at the age of 84.

Saranne was the wife of the late Samuel S. M. Du Bois and is survived by her daughters, Sarah D. Kingsley (Robert) and Anne Du Bois (Stephen Broocks) as well as her beloved grandchildren, Sarah B. Kingsley, Robert D. Kingsley, Anna M. Jacobson, and Samuel M. Jacobson.

Saranne was born on August 9, 1933 to parents Sarah F. Borda and Charles A. Borda, Jr. and was predeceased by her brother, Charles A. Borda, III. Saranne grew up in Chestnut Hill, and attended Springside School, as did both of her daughters. She graduated from Hollins College in 1955.

During her life she was active in St. Paul’s Church, The Random Garden Club, and her community where ever she saw a need. She and Sam loved to travel and considered themselves fortunate to have seen so much of the world, often with great friends. Saranne was filled with a wonderful sense of humor, keen intelligence, and always had a ready smile and a kind word for any who passed her way. She was blessed with many many friends, but most of all, Saranne cherished her family.

She leaves indelible memories of countless Thanksgivings, Christmases, birthdays, and graduations, but most of all, summers on Squam Lake in New Hampshire, where she could swim in her “velvet waters”.

A celebration of Saranne’s life was held at St. Paul’s Church on April 14th followed by a reception at The Hill at Whitemarsh. Memorial gifts in Saranne’s memory may be made to Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, 500 W. Willow Grove Ave, Phila., PA 19118 or The Hill at Whitemarsh, 4000 Fox Hound Drive, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444.
