Maryalice Jones May, teacher

Maryalice Jones May, 61, an elementary school teacher, died April 13 at her home in Chestnut Hill.

Ms. Jones was the daughter of the late Marie Reinhart Jones, a former editor of the Chestnut Hill Local, and the late Charles N. Jones Jr.

Ms. Jones taught for seven years in England. Returning to the United States, she held a number of teaching positions, including 12 years at St. Margaret School in Lowell, Mass.

Raised in Chestnut Hill, she was a graduate of Our Mother of Consolation Parish School, Cardinal Dougherty High School and Pennsylvania State University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education.

She served for two years on the board of the Chestnut Hill Community Association as a student director.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn May, of Philadelphia; a son, Antony May, of Green Acres, Fla.; brothers Charles J. Jones and Christopher H. Jones, both of Conshohocken; and a sister, Kathleen M. Jones, of Huntingdon, Pa.

Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, April 21, at the Jacob F. Ruth Funeral Home, 8413 Germantown Ave. in Chestnut Hill, where a brief prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m.
