The departure of six graduated players - several of them multi-year starters - would be a severe blow to many soccer teams, but despite those losses the girls of Penn Charter must still be considered a strong contender to repeat as Inter-Ac League champions. Although talented and deep, PC is chronologically a young team, with a total of five seniors and juniors.

The Quakers are returning high scorer Giovanna "Gi" DeMarco, the league MVP and now a fifth-year varsity starter, and fellow senior MacKenzie Listman is back in goal for her fourth go-round. The third senior is Lindsey Reina, who will play college soccer at Emory University. DeMarco already made a verbal commitment to Wake Forest last year.

Emma Maley and Ally Paul are the two juniors who will be on the field; due to injury, their classmate Mia Monheit will be a manager this fall.

Charter's current sophomores already saw a lot of varsity playing time a year ago, either as starters of reserves. India Barnes, Maggie Boyes, Vanessa Ewing, Kaylee Murphy, and Sara Shipon are the returnees, while Toni Linus is transferring into their class from Lower Moreland High School.

This year's cadre of freshmen is led by Kait Haughey, who in 2016 was already a varsity regular as an eighth-grader and emerged as one of the team's top scorers. One of her classmates is Caitlyn Hnatkowsky, who is ascending from PC's own middle school and is the younger sister of a player who graduated from the 2016 soccer team, Lexi Hnatkowsky.

Fellow ninth-graders Janae Stewart and Camille Weiss are new arrivals at the school; Stewart has already spent time in a PC uniform while playing for the Quakers' summer league basketball team. Penn Charter usually has an eighth-grade soccer prodigy who earns a spot on the varsity, and this year it's Kayla Bradby. Her older brother, Ryan, is a member of the boys' soccer squad.

Darci Borski is back for her fifth season as PC head coach along with her sidekick Ashley Maher, and Chelsea Czarnik also returns as an assistant coach. Joining the staff this season is Jill Strumfels, who was a goalie for the old Beaver College (now Arcadia U.)
