Councilwoman Cindy Bass (yellow shirt) cut the ribbon at a dedication of Chestnut Hill’s new Pickleball Courts on Saturday, June 10, at the Water Tower Recreation Center, Hartwell Lane and Winston Road. Joining Bass to give remarks were and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Chief of Staff, Tiffany Thurman (white blazer) and local pickleball group leader Dan Wheeler (white hat), who was instrumental in moving the project forward. The pickleball courts will serve a growing population of pickleball enthusiasts who’ve gathered weekly to play the sport. The court renovations were made possible by a $100,000 grant from Bass’ discretionary funds, which are controlled by district council people for local non-profit projects.
