Paul E. Henchey Jr., business owner and sales executive

Paul E. “Buzz” Henchey Jr., 85, formerly of Wyndmoor, a business owner and former sales executive, died May 23 at The Hill at Whitemarsh, where he had been living for the past five years.

Mr. Henchey retired in 2000 as vice president of sales for Rolite Inc. to run his own businesses. Earlier he had been vice president of international sales at Westmoreland Coal. He began his sales career at Rorer Pharmaceutical Co.

Raised in Rye, N.Y., he attended the Kent School in Kent, Conn., where he played ice hockey and was a member of the crew team that went to the internationally famous Henley Royal Regatta at Henley-on-Thames, England.

He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Officers Training School as a lieutenant and served as a tank commander in the Army’s 3rd Armored Division at Fort Knox, Ky.

Mr. Henchey is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Moyer Henchey; three daughters, Kimberly Nickell, Pamela Roberts and Laurin Shields; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 22 E. Chestnut Hill Ave., in Chestnut Hill. Memorial donations may be made to the Pennsylvania SPCA, 350 E. Erie Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19134.
