Crime Report: One burglary, five thefts and one theft from vehicle

The following crime report is for crimes in Chestnut Hill from May 21 to May 27, 2017.

May 21. Theft on the 8400 block of Germantown Avenue at approximately 5:27 p.m. Manager of the restaurant told police that an unknown male came into the restaurant and attempted to take a purse off a table. He was approached and yelled at. The man dropped the purse and ran out. Nothing was taken.

May 23. Theft from vehicle at approximately 12:30 p.m. on the 7700 block of Crittenden Street. A woman told police she left her dog in her vehicle and an unknown person removed the dog from her vehicle. The woman also told police she found the tags discarded at the corner. Taken was a female siberian husky with blue eyes named Aurora. The dog is valued at approximately $500.

May 23. Theft from grocery store at approximately 2:40 a.m. An employee told police that an unknown woman stole one bag of “Original South Philly” rolls valued at $3. The woman was last seen heading eastbound towards Stenton Ave.

May 25. Theft at approximately 8 a.m. on the 200 block of West Northwestern Avenue. A man told police that he listed the amount of change missing from the cashier's register. Taken was $10 in change, one tub of Nuttella and one tub of peanut butter cups. The employee told police he found the listed items.

May 26. Theft on the 8000 block of Winston Road at approximately 5:45 p.m. A man told police

that his passengers paid for a cab fair with a fake $50.

May 27. Theft on the 8600 block of Germantown Avenue. A man told police that an unknown female stole a navy Nike shirt valued at $25.

May 27. Burglary on the 200 W. Northwest Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. A woman told police that she returned on May 21.. to discover her missing lockbox containing $450 missing out of a locked locker. No signs of forced entry. Entry possible from bathroom window and exited through rear door. Also taken was a backpack with a projector in it worth $400.

Summary: Seven crimes for the week – One burglary, five thefts and one theft from vehicle.
