Sara S. “Sally” Wolf, 70, of Wyndmoor, a retired elementary school teacher, died Feb.19 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Ms. Wolf had taught first grade at Germantown Academy for 45 years before retiring in 2014. She was described by her colleagues as a “pillar of the first-grade team” and was known for her kindness and commitment to the children and the school in every capacity.

In 1980 she was she was inducted into the honorary Class of 1760 for her outstanding contributions to the academy.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a graduate of the Stevens School and Colby Junior College. She received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Wheelock College.

She was a member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chestnut Hill, where she served as chalice bearer as well as acolyte. She also headed the Altar Guild for many years.

She is survived by brothers Dr. John H. Wolf Jr. and William M. Wolf; and a twin sister Linda W. Walden.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, Chestnut Hill at, followed by a celebration of her life in the Parish Hall.
