On Friday, April 1, Teenagers, Inc. will host Carnaval Guatemala.
Teenagers Inc.’s mission is to unite young people from various backgrounds through social and service opportunities in the Northwest section of Philadelphia. Our annual fundraiser provides a fun way to engage our community through live music, a night out, and an amazing silent auction all in the spirit of service!
This year, 17 local youth volunteers will serve and impact change, not only in Philadelphia, but internationally. The dedicated participants of the 8th annual trip have already begun to attend monthly planning meetings, collected materials and supplies, and kicked off individual outreach through their personal networks.
In Guatemala we will be working with La Asociacion Nuestros Ahijados, an organization whose purpose is to resolve the most pressing issues in Antigua, most of which stem from poverty. This amazing young cohort will work for three days building homes that will stand for 40 years.
The remainder of our time will be spent serving hot meals in an emergency homeless shelter, distributing fresh food to local families, and serving in two schools sponsored by LANA. It’s a packed ten days. These young people will experience the severity of poverty, while having the opportunity to see and experience the warmth and gratitude of an incredible culture that will stay with them for years to come. Once they’ve returned, volunteers will serve the needy in Philadelphia, and compare their experiences.
We are asking our community to join us on this special night to celebrate at Alma Mater (7165 Germantown Ave.) from 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday, April 1, for a Latin-inspired buffet dinner, delectable desserts, wine, and beer. We will be raffling a pair of Eagles tickets, four Diamond Club Phillies tickets and a teen-crafted string quilt. Our one-of-a-kind silent auction features an assortment of enchanting themed baskets, and every chance wins at our wine raffle. We look forward to celebrating with you at this incredible event.
Tickets are $35 a person and can be purchased via Paypal (www.teensincphilly.org/donate), via email (tickets.teensinc@gmail.com) or via phone (Grace Maher - 267-879-9248).
