A 55-year-old North Philadelphia man was arrested in connection with a burglary on Aug. 22 at the Trolley Car Diner, 7619 Germantown Ave. in Mt. Airy.
Thomas Hughes, of the 1800 block of West Glenwood Ave., was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and other criminal offenses.
According to police, 14th District Officers Robert Mahan, Joseph Gomes and Robert Jala were on routine patrol on Aug. 31 when they observed a man carrying a green bag on the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue who matched the description of the burglar in the diner's surveillance video.
In the surveillance video, the suspect can be seen taking a Toshiba Laptop and other items and causing damage to the business estimated at $1,150.
According to court documents, Hughes has prior arrests for burglary.
