A Taste of Philly, 8513 Germantown Ave., may be closing its actual doors today after serving the Chestnut Hill community for almost 11 years, but owner Mike Frendak said that doesn’t mean its disappearing from the neighborhood for good.
The shop isn’t necessarily closing, Frendak said, but rather “moving for an opportunity to expand the business.”
Frendak said he has an opportunity to co-brand A Taste of Philly with Chill on the Hill, 5 E. Highland Ave., and also with Greenberg’s Bakery in Oreland. It will wholesale and retail at both locations, he said, where its products will be available for longer hours, which for Frendak is a plus.
“We’ll offer the same fresh baked product that we always have, and hopefully do a little more,” he said. “It’s actually very exciting for us.”
Frendak said that he, his wife, Trish, and his family are grateful to Chestnut Hill and the surrounding communities for the “incredible support” they’ve shown A Taste of Philly since it opened in December 2004. Because of that support, he looks forward to continuing his business in the neighborhood, right down the street and around the corner.
“The friendships and the relationships we’ve established have far exceeded our expectations when we first started this business,” Frendak said, “and we look forward to seeing everyone around the corner at Chill.”
