With more than a half-million visitors each year, Fort Washington State Park needs all the volunteers it can get to assist in maintaining the park's environment and its natural beauty.
The park is asking volunteers of all ages to attend its annual Volunteer Day on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and lend a hand in readying the environment for the warm seasons ahead.
Duties include planting trees, raking leaves, trash cleanup, assembling picnic tables and other springtime projects. The park will supply the tools and trash bags, and all volunteers need to bring is a pair of garden or work gloves. That's all it takes to make a difference.
The meeting place will be near the observation deck in the Militia Hill area of the park, while registration will be located at the back end of parking lot #5.
Volunteers will be provided with refreshments and a picnic lunch.
The rain date is April 12. For questions or additional information, call 215-591-5250.
