Gary Bromberg, 83, of Springfield, Montgomery County died peacefully on January 31st, 2015 of multiple myeloma at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Born in Brooklyn in 1931 to Louis Bromberg and Mildred Guralnik Bromberg, Mr. Bromberg moved to the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia when he was five years old. He graduated from Overbrook High School and from Penn State University class of 1953, where he was a member of Beta Sigma Pi fraternity. He further studied business at the University of Pennsylvania. He worked for forty-five years as an industrial insurance broker, retiring from ECBM Insurance Brokers and Consultants in West Conshohocken, PA in 1995. In retirement he continued his lifelong passions for painting, metal sculpture, tennis, nature, and international travel. Gary was committed to the ethic of community service. The organization BigBrothers, Big Sisters gave him the opportunity to mentor Derreck Robinson, building a relationship which has continued to grow for the past 35 years. Mr. Bromberg is survived by his daughter Mia Maldonado Bromberg, son Adam Bromberg, their mother Linda, and long-term companion, Susan Bockius. Memorial services will be held at the Unitarian Society of Germantown, 6511 Lincoln Drive, Philadelphia, PA 19119 on Sunday, February 8th at 2 PM.
