Margaret Mary “Meg” Flores, 43, a lawyer and founder of a Philadelphia law firm, died Oct. 29 of cancer at her home in Chestnut Hill.

Ms. Flores was a founder of Greenblatt, Pierce, Engle, Funt & Flores LLC, where, she started the practice's family law section and handled criminal defense and civil rights cases.

Earlier in her career, as a lawyer with the Defender Association of Philadelphia, she served indigent and disenfranchised clients and mentored and supervised young defenders. In 2000, she was selected to represent hundreds of people arrested in Philadelphia for protesting at the Republican Nation Convention, none of whom were convicted.

Raised in Drexel Hill, she graduated from Merion Mercy Academy, King's College and the George Washington University Law School.

Ms. Flores is survived by her husband, Michael Gonzales, and daughters Aden, Jacqueline and Rory.
