The Chestnut Hill Community Fund held a reception on Friday, May 22 to award $94,000 in grants to 25 neighborhood organizations.
“We raised this money from 955 donors,” Community Fund Drive co chair Laura Lucas told recipients. “That total is more than last year."
The Chestnut Hill Community Fund Drive is an annual event in which CHCA members and other area residents are solicited for donations. Every dollar raised in the drive is distributed to local nonprofits who write grant proposals to the Fund Drive committee. That committee reviews all proposals and awards the grant after the drive's conclusion.
This year, 39 organizations submitted requests for more than $197,000. Four organizations did not receive grants.
Lucas noted that the largest donor was Chestnut Hill Hospital, which again contributed $20,000 to the fund drive. $10,000 of that donation will go towards the Pastorius Park Summer Concert Series.
