In the last two months, teens and volunteers at Teenagers Inc. have been very busy. We started the year off with our kickoff event in September and quickly moved into Halloween with our annual Ghost Walk. Then came November, with our fundraiser “A Taste of Chestnut Hill.” What an incredible event it was. We would like to thank our community members, businesses and restaurants that supported us for our community event. What an incredible turnout!

As we head into the New Year, we are looking forward to all the fun projects that will happen. We also have three really exciting opportunities for high school students in the area.

Saturday workshops at the Teen Center: Every Saturday from 3-5 p.m., starting Jan, 11, we will have classes where the teens in the area will meet with local professionals and learn things like photography, dance, art, henna and more. Look for the schedule on our Facebook page or on our website www.teensincphilly.org.

High school ski trip on Jan. 25 and 26: Please join Teenagers Inc. for its annual ski trip. Do you have a high school teen that loves to ski? Or a high schooler that really wants to learn? This is the perfect trip for them. We are taking advantage of Shawnee Ski Mountain’s Ultimate Ski Day Package. For a low price of $159 you get breakfast, lunch, dinner, an overnight hotel stay, ski instruction and ski equipment. It’s a great deal and a great overnight getaway with friends. Please remember that we will need to rent a bus, so that will be an extra fee. The Teen Board encourages anyone to take advantage of this trip. If you know anyone who has ever been on a Teenagers Inc. ski trip, they can tell you that it’s chock full of fun. Please join us for an informative meeting with a deposit of $100 on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m.

Free tutoring and you: We have lots of high school Teenagers Inc. members/community members, that love to help elementary and middle schoolers. If you notice that your student is in need of assistance in a specific subject, email the director and let her know. Pertinent information should be included, like grade, school and the subject they need help in. Please include your name, the child’s name and your phone number. Tutoring will commence on Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tutoring will happen Mondays and Wednesdays until June and will take place at the Teen Center, 105 Bethlehem Pike, in Chestnut Hill.

If you would like to be matched up with a tutor, please email Arianna at Teenagersinc.director@gmail.com. In addition, if you know of any high school students that would like service hours and/or become a member of Teenagers Inc., please feel free to reach out via email. This is the beginning of a spectacular 2014 for Teenagers Inc.
