Dark alleys, eerie stories, and shadowy figures set the scene for the Ghost Walk, an exciting, and spooky family event hosted by Teenagers Inc, on Oct. 26.

Led around by masked tour guides, following luminary-light paths on the dark streets of Chestnut Hill, participants are introduced to storytellers from far and wide. You listen as they weave their tales and try their best to scare you. If you love Halloween and listening to spooky stories from years ago, this is an event you don’t want to miss!

Vernyce Dannells with her booming voice, is no stranger to Ghost Walk. She has brought her murder tales and ballads to the Chestnut Hill Ghost Walk for several years now. You may also have seen and heard her during Philadelphia's Tellabration or at New Jersey's Grounds for Sculpture. Dannells often headlined Honolulu's Talk Story Festival and, since moving to Philadelphia, happily brings her larger-than-life presence and voice to the task of entertaining spooky tale lovers whenever the occasion arises.

Annie Hart is an educator in the Philadelphia area. She is a dynamic and entertaining storyteller who has traveled all over the world and been featured on radio and television. Annie tells stories that blow the world out of proportion and writes a blog called "Stories Change the World.” Annie has been with the Ghost Walk for several years and is excited to return!

Denise Valentine is a professional storyteller and former “Ghost Bus” teller for Eastern State Penitentiary's Haunted House. She tells spine-tingling tales from the Deep South, Appalachia, the Caribbean, and even some local haunts. In previous years she chilled Ghost Walkers to the Bone with Dead Aaron, the Battle of Baba Yaga and Booomangani.

Ron Carter a Philadelphia native, has appeared at Ghost Walk before. He is a dynamic artist whohas performed in many great roles, such as Frederick Douglass, Nat Turner and Louis Armstrong for the African American Museum in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia and Montgomery County school districts, and the Philadelphia Free Library. He is an active member of the Patchwork storytelling organization, and he has performed with Eastern State Penitentiary’s “Terror behind the Walls.”

Join us as these storytellers tell their tales of Halloween, and watch as they weave history, and folklore all through their stories. As a special guest this year, we have the Queen of Halloween joining us – Darlene Martin, a native Philadelphian and a lover of all things dress-up, is bound to give you a fright with all her Halloween trickery. After all the thrills and chills, join us for some homemade mulled cider and some fall treats. We can’t wait to see you.

The Ghost Walk on Oct. 26 will have five departure times from the side of the Chestnut Hill Library, 8711 Germantown Ave., starting at 6:30 p.m. The event will run until 8:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Chestnut Hill Welcome Center, 16-18 E. Highland Ave, or at Sovereign/Santander bank, 8623 Germantown Ave. Admission is $10 for Adults (12 and over) and $5 for Children.
